As Lactation consultants and midwives, we understand that for many women, the breastfeeding journey is not always easy. While natural, breastfeeding is a learnt skill. It often takes time and patience. Most problems can be overcome with some assistance.
The Lactation Network lactation consultants are authorised midwives and international board-certified lactation consultants. As such, we hold Medicare provider numbers and are endorsed to prescribe certain medications and order diagnostic tests.
During your hospital stay at the Hobart Private Hospital, the Lactation Network consultants and your midwives will support you with your infant feeding choices.
This book will give you some understanding of how breastfeeding works and how breastfeeding can be different for every mother and baby pair. This book will explore some common challenges faced by mothers in the first few weeks, and provide some guidance around managing these challenges.
This book is not designed to replace advice from your health care providers, each mother and baby pair are different and have different needs. If you are having difficulties with feeding, speak with your lactation consultant, midwife, G.P., child health nurse or paediatrician.
